Matthias Zimmerman

After landing on the scene last year with his first Sound Pellegrino release “Isla Dub”, and exercising his unique combination of war drums, electromechanical symphonies and earth sounds on such highly respectable labels as Tigersushi and Discobelle, gaining the respect of peers such as Hudson Mohawke, Martyn, Laurent Garnier, Joakim, Modeselektor, Ivan Smagghe, Boys Noize, Breakbot and many more in the process, German maestro MATTHIAS ZIMMERMANN is back for the third time on his newly-permanent home Sound Pellegrino.
Inpired by the wonderfully grandiose garden situated on the left bank of Paris known as Jardin des Plantes, here is Matthias Zimmermann’s latest offering, the “BOTANICA DUB” EP.

Built for the dancefloor, bearing the specificities of a proper organic techno tool but not devoid of subtle grooves and details, “Paul” is quite unusually ‘tracky’ for a Matthias Zimmermann track. It is as club-friendly as it is mental and hypnotizing, its mid-tempo pulse radiating with magnetic sex appeal.

“Quincy” picks up where Matthias’s spielbergian weirdo-hit from last year “Luther” left off. Hysterical drums, crunched and de-pitched to abstraction, unravelling what happens to be chopped up bird sounds Matthias himself sampled during his latest trip to the aforementioned Jardin des Plantes (we believe he deserves some sort of French national distinction for doing this), resulting in a rare broken banger.beating at 114bpm around a fantastic climactic core.

“Vincente” is the hidden gem of the “Botanica Dub” EP. Relentless drums built around a reconstructed filtered tear-jerking rainbow r&b guitar solo which will turn your world into a black neon French movie romance where you’ll be spinning and whirling in slow motion while holding your lover’s arms until you both take off and reach the stars. A nice way to wrap up this dreamy EP, the new theme songs for life on the colourful archipelago situated inside composer Matthias Zimmermann’s head.

Strip Steve feat Robert Owens

Strip Steve returns with his second single „One Thing feat. Robert Owens“, taken out from his ambitious Album „Micro Mega“, released earlier this year on Boysnoize Records.
This time he takes a deep dive into Chicago House with raw 808 and 909 percussion, warm impulsive bass and silky vocals by the one and only Robert Owens - „One Thing“ sums it up to a peerless tribute to Strip Steves love: Chicago House Music.

Alongside the original album cut, futuristic-funk hero Jimmy Edgar and BNR label mate Djedjotronic contribute their versions of the single to complete the package. Edgar goes with his mid 90s electrified revisionism of House music and warping the whole business to a pioneering future sound - his matchless style enhances the dancefloor potential for sure. Meanwhile Djedjotronic borrows Strip Steve's bold kicks and colourful synths, letting them flow into an elegant halfstepped journey, which proves Djedjotronic's beautiful raised oldschool mentality.

An instrumental version of „One Thing“ is also in the pack to bring it straight to the dancefloors. Enjoy!

Tensnake featuring Syron (Video)

Released 5th Nov
Despite having a relatively small number of releases and remixes to his name, Tensnake's output belies his immense reputation. An undoubted proponent of the quality-over-quantity mantra, his sound is as instantly recognisable as it is infectious. 'Mainline' is a hooky, bass-driven house anthem of the very highest order, and features the assured vocal performance from the acclaimed Rudimental collaborator and Radio 1 Xtra favourite Syron.

With a thumpingly retro bassline, snappy 909-styled hats and a chopped and re-pitched vocal which winds its way around the main refrain, 'Mainline' is a positive and worthy reimagining of the 'glory days' of house music. With its feel-good, retro house stylings and assured vocal performance, the new release from Tensnake looks set to be as big as its feline predecessor.

Nautiluss

TURBO 135 - NAUTILUSS - HABITAT
Available November 5, 2012

With his second EP for Turbo Recordings, Nautiluss pushes against the darker edges of house and techno, forging a sound that has earned support from supreme tastemakers like Martyn, Untold, Gesaffelstein, and Ivan Smagghe.

A-side "Depth Charge" combines sub-heavy bass, gritty metallic hi-hats, and cool sonar bleeps to create a unique atmospheric bomb - the perfect soundtrack for dancing your way to the bottom of the ocean. "Surfeit" starts with a low-end thud that sounds like an entire warehouse caving in on your head, with cold synth hooks adding a layer of moody intensity. "Sunder" gradually builds into a barely reined-in house monster, complete with demonic vocal stabs and hypnotic pads. Finally, "Stygian" is a mid-tempo electro gem built just funky enough to hold down the coveted B2 slot.

Zombie Nation

Turbo Recordings is proud to present the first single off the upcoming LP from Munich superproducer Zombie Nation.

We are beyond excited to present the latest release from one of our favorite artists, ZZT co-chairman Zombie Nation. These four amazing tracks offer a taste of his forthcoming full-length for Turbo (due at the end of the year), while demonstrating his eccentric studio genius and unique hitmaking sensibility.

"Meathead" starts things off in big-room banger mode, before segueing into a carnivalesque breakdown, with moody synths that acknowledge that all feasts - culinary, erotic or otherwise - must come to an end. "Attic Sundays" is analog snake charmer magic, bouncing cavernous sonar bass off every wall of the Bavarian Pyramids. "Blueberries" blends high-NRG synths with intricate clockwerk rhythms, redefining the landscape of acceptable peak-time geography. Finally, "Schoove" offers a full scholarship to Groove School, wedding a mangled vocal hook to alternately classy and grimy Kraut-Hop.

Today's dance scene has become a little too vegan-friendly for our liking. With this EP, Turbo provides a much-needed hot beef injection to the proceedings.

Defected presents House Masters Derrick Carter

Defected presents House Masters Derrick Carter: Out 12/11/12

Derrick Carter is one of the most highly-regarded house music artists of all time. Lauded by many as a DJs DJ, his flawless technical ability and party-minded sets aimed squarely at the dancefloor rank him among the top in the world. As a producer and remixer his intricate and unique records are instantly recognisable as his own; often awkward, sometimes unpredictable but always funky, his productions represent an extension of his individual character, both of which are celebrated with this new retrospective compilation.

House Masters Derrick Carter, Derrick selects those lesser-known records that demonstrate the breadth of his musical ability and depth of his house music heritage. Although hugely influential underground jams like ‘Squaredancing In A Roundhouse’ and ‘Where U At?’ may not have been commercial successes, but that’s not what Derrick is about – as Derrick puts it: “I'm shut out of the ‘hit making’, I'm exclusively about booty shaking”, and tracks such as ‘The Warrior’, ‘Tripping Amongst The Stars’, ‘A Hope (Over U)’ are indicative of the groove and innate energy which lie at the heart of the very best Derrick Carter productions.

Included here are no fewer than 15 previously unreleased cuts and edits which previously would only have been found in Derrick’s own personal record bag or CD wallet; this is the first time that hidden gems and secret weapons such as the 16 minute funk epic of SoCalled’s ‘Richi’, The Innocent’s ‘Theme From The Blue Cucaracha’, DJ Bang’s ‘Hallelujah’ and his personal “private stock” reinterpretations of Freaks’ ‘Boiling Point’ and ‘Telefunky’ amongst others have ever seen either the light of day or have been available digitally.

Track lIsting:

01. Sound Patrol 'Tripping Among The Stars' (Trippin' At The Kat)
02. Truman Industries 'Love Plus' (Derrick Carter's ‘Love Groove’ Mix)
03. Angry Mexican DJ's 'I Like It Funky' (Derrick Carter's B.H.Q. Re-Rub)
04. Derrick L. Carter 'Where U At?' (The First Mix)
05. DJ Bang 'DJ Bang Make You Jiu-Jitsu' (Technical)
06. DJ Bang 'Hallelujah' (DC Private Edit)
07. SoCalled 'Richi' (DC's Full Phat Edition)
08. Derrick L. Carter 'Squaredancin' (Jazzz Extension)

Para One

When The Night (feat. Jaw)", a joyous soulful vocal number taken from the Passion album by Para One, has just been given the remix treatment by three Parisian artists who share Marble's freestyle quality ethos.

Logo designed a maximal-minimal techno beat driven by a bassline autistically spiralling into a vortex of gray matter and shiny, crisp synths on the other side.

DVNO does a fine job at slowing things down, and gives a spare, sinister feeling and a robotic pace to the previously hot and hyperactive original.

Discodeine's version activates their trademark (pseudo-) live feel, and manages to make the song sound both warm-hearted and inherently vicious, like some android doing a really good job at mimicking our feelings. The EP comes with instrumental and vocal versions of the original.

French Fries

French Fries delivers two originals on the cutting edge of modern bass. "Space Alarm" is right up in your face but artfully holds back right when you think it will go over the top. The inside "Smoke Wine" is more in the vein of last years smash "Yo Vogue" yet more understated and deep which is rare for the genre. When I play these at the right time they always solicit an audible "ooooh" from the crowd at the drops. Remix #1 is by Justin Martin who really blows it up dirtybird style with almost a breakbeat old school electro beat. Remix #2 is by dirtybird newcomers GoldFFinch via Belgium who also deliver a really funk laden club version. Both remixes are ace and the full release brings a very fresh sound to the label.

Art Department, Blud, Shaun Reeves feat Damian Lazarus

The next musical offering from No.19 comes in the form of the single ‘Robot Heart’, a record almost destined to be a classic before its creation. The title comes from the infamous desert parties of the same name, that Robot Heart that burners chase through the desert on bikes deep into the Playa to partake in one of the world’s most enigmatic events. It ́s been praised by the likes of Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the best parties on earth and continues to top the list for djs lucky enough to play atop the legendary mobile soundsystem..

When Art Department ́s Jonny White received the call from Gio (George G Mueller) and Jason Swamy to write the first ever song for Robot Heart, it was not something he took lightly. In Jonny ̈s own words, "Robot Heart events at Burning Man are quite simply put, the best parties on the planet". Jonny enlisted his band partner Kenny Glasgow and sometimes DJ partner Shaun Reeves who were with him last year at Burning Man and who all experienced the Playa and Robot Heart for the very first time together to collaborate on the record. This was no small task, writing a record that would somehow have to translate the uncontainable energy that Robot Heart brings to the Playa each night and into the following afternoon at Burning Man.

"This truly is the stuff legends are made of. The guys have come up with something so amazing and powerful and I was honored to be asked to write the theme to such a beautiful concept that has touched so many including all of us. Having experienced playing on the bus 3 times now I had a good idea of what the song needed to sound like, although bringing that unbelievable atmosphere to a record seemed it might be impossible. Fortunately, having been touched so deeply by our experience there we didn ́t have much trouble putting ourselves in the right place to bring that vibe to the record. I think it really captures the essence of the party, the playa and the people that make it what it is ̈ (Jonny White).

When the record was finished Jonny immediately turned to Damian Lazarus who first asked Art Department to play with him on the bus 2 years ago to write the vocal. "The record needed a vocal... it was something that only someone who had been there and shared the same experience at Robot Heart would be capable of writing. While finishing the mix in LA I approached Damian to write and record the vocals for the song. He had a similar reaction to when we were asked to produce the song... honored and aware of the daunting task: that it would be a meaningful song for so many and had to live up to the actual party. He asked for a moment alone with a pen and some paper and came up with something absolutely perfect, without even hearing the record! I was shocked. We recorded one take and that was it". (Jonny White)

Musically ‘Robot Heart’ is an instant underground anthem, deep, pulsing electronic music that defies tags such as ‘house’ or ‘techno’. Lazarus’ intense and poignant vocals cut a channel through the rich and haunting production and the sound transports the listener straight to the heart of the flame lit desert floor. The original version is accompanied by an outstanding remix from BLUD who delivers a stripped back, dub mix that is perfectly balanced and deeply hypnotic.

Hot Natured & Ali Love

Hot Natured and Ali Love are set to release one of the most hotly anticipated singles of the year, ‘Benediction’ on 29th October through Hot Creations.

Hot Natured’s last single ‘Forward Motion’ was the seductive summer anthem of 2011. Since then the founding members of Hot Natured, Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, have been joined by Ali Love and Luca C (from the duo Infinity Ink). The quartet has been locked away in writing sessions in Los Angeles, London and Ibiza, with an album planned for spring 2013.

‘Benediction’ is the first track to emerge from this album but its seeds were first sewn almost 10 year ago when Ali first thought of the main chords and concept. Today that idea has germinated into Hot Natured’s lead single. It features vocalist Ali Love’s trademark smooth and infectious tones, driven by melodic keys and that trademark deep, haunting bounce. ‘Benediction’ showcases Hot Natured’s collective song writing and top-of-their-game production skills to full, potent effect.

First heard on Jamie and Seth Troxler’s recent takeover for Pete Tong on Radio 1 and played at Hot Creations’ night Paradise at DC10 in Ibiza all summer, ‘Benediction’ is an irresistible and infectious crossover hit. It demonstrates exactly why Hot Natured and their Hot Creations label have become the go-to names for unrivalled disco-tinged, addictive house music with ‘quality’ stamped all over it. Also featured here are a blowout dub of ‘Benediction’ and a stupendous remix of ‘Forward Motion by MK… what a package!!

SCNTST

Our man SCNTST returns with his second single, giving us a small teaser of his upcoming Album. Inspired by Jersey Club , Baltimore, Breaks and big room Techno - a 'fusioned' version of all the good elements combined is to be found in 'Premelodic Structures'.

This time the Munich-based producer focuses more on track constructions than on melody as the title already implies. The first track 'Not Sure' starts with a nostalgic voice 'You show me around?' and turns into expressively techno composition with chopped up, dramatic synths. 'Da Bizzy Jump' and 'Let U Go' are two perfect examples of SCNTSTs eclectic style, where he's once more experimenting with Baltimore and Jersey Club kicks together with smart electro bass cuts. You know this kid has a knack for banger and literally lives up his name "SCNTST".

On the other hand you'll find the 909-Kick driven track 'Rhyhtm Sticks'. The result is a trappy percussion parade armed with a heavy sub-kick making it almost to an techno anthem. Obscure basslines, quirky ideas and strange sirens making 'Phisyq' to an ultimate rhythm track. The last track on the EP 'Emotion' is basically a suite in itself. It's overloaded with funeral synths and disapearing vocals. The deep UKG rooted sub-bass fits perfectly into the hollowing ambient and renders everything to a very profound track. Burial fans will definitely love this!

As an exclusive Beatport Bonus Track you'll find 'Invisible Rain'. Watch out for this kid's debut album next year.

Trus'me Live in the Boiler Room

Hunter/Game

Hunter/Game project was born thanks to the artistic inspiration of two Italian producers based between Milan and New York. They perform secret loft parties, in which they are able to express their unique sound. The sound comes from a deep groove and it evolves thanks to electronic and pop influences, while keeping techno inspiration as its main element. And it’s this sound that pricked the ears of Sasha, who instantly snapped up their single An Angel as the latest single for his label, Last Night on Earth. A single that adds another dimension to the label, An Angel will be released on the 22nd October digital only. The rich bass, mellow vocals and eerie percussion introduced in An Angel builds suspense that’s consistent throughout the EP. With deep grooves fixed firmly in Techno, each track stays dark and twisted from the grave synths and worn out male vocals in ‘Novox’, to the rumbling bass and speech in ‘Your Essence’.

Symphony Hall (Riton & Canblaster)

Symphony Hall is a one time collaboration between U.K. hero Riton and Club Cheval member Canblaster. One Night Stand, featuring Jay Norton : quality sexual activity is a common topic in pop music, and erotic prowess as much as short-term intercourse are often used as material for lyrics or functionality suggestions. We, at Marble, decided to release a track willingly unfocused on hot sex, and only dedicated to sweet love and epic tenderness. You know, the kind of dizzy vibe you get when you have a major crush on someone – so major it makes you feel like a 15 year old ending up in a bedroom with said crush : soft-dicked, but dazed and happy. That's exactly what this track is about : definitely not for a one night stand, and clearly the beginning of of long, smooth love story you really need, just right now. This is classic, delicous tumblR&B, laced with clear, fragile synth chords, digital slowjam beats and Jay Norton's unmissable British accent. Metal Arrives is a blunt and bipolar track paying homage to UK rave, built on the tightest, most severe electrofunk beat ever and a megalomaniac bassline. Ardkore piano vamps do their job on the bright side of the track. As a bonus, FX galore : absurd screeches, rubbery stuff, fake motor sound and grime snippets. Made to rock parties instantaneously.

Boys Noize

Get ready for the new single "ICH R U".
Taken from BOYS NOIZE's new album "OUT OF THE BLACK"!

BOYS NOIZE says: "ICH R U" is probably the most melodic one on my new album. If you know some of my tracks like "Yeah", "Jeffer" or "Shine Shine" ...it has that sort of vibe. It surprises me that friends or fans sometimes prefer the melodic or softer stuff I do, especially on my remixes and I think "ICH R U" is obviously more of a softer one - but it's still super funky and Disco6000. Again, it has robot vocals, which I prefer to the human one, haha..."

Harvard Bass

Twin Turbo coasts along the upper crust of fun with two new floor-devourers from Harvard Bass. Featuring a remix by PILO.

Straight outta San Diego, Harvard Bass has released music on Sound Pellegrino and Boysnoize Records, earned support from the likes of Tiga, Brodinski, and Zombie Nation, and teamed with Green Velvet on a recent collaboration for Relief. For his first Twin Turbo EP, this young producer and prolific remixer lives up to his name, providing a $40,000-a-year education in sub-wrecking and erudite low-end manipulation.

The vocal sample on "Erasers" coerces dancers to "DO IT RIGHT NOW", while the Schedule-I bass throb and strobe-emulating hi-hats leave them with no choice to reply "OK, NOW'S FINE". Meanwhile, "Chalk" is a dose of unbuckled techno belt-banging, what real DJs call a "result-obtainer," and the proof's in the puddles of drug-sweat, pal.

For the remix, we tabbed Harv-B's fellow Californian PILO, fresh off a release for UK label Bad-Life, and with an EP in the works for Turbo. His rework of "Chalk" licks the blackboard clean with manic warehouse music for warehouses that store the poison they intentionally inject into glowsticks.

Twin Turbo - digital monuments etched in the face of Forever, forging an ageless catalog amid the omniscient cybercloud that will inevitably consume us all.

Eats Everything

Eats Everything, the big lad from Bristol, delivers two smashers just as big as his lovable personality. I've already seen both sides of this record devastate all kinds of rooms from DC10 to fabric to Warehouse Project. This is the kind of rare release that has support from DJs across the board. "Vertigo" is a pure gold nugget of acid artistry and "Trubble" is the filthy cousin who didn't brush her teeth or change her pants for a week. If you've managed to catch Eats Everything live this year, you will have seen what all the fuss is about and if you were lucky enough to manage a chat with him, you will have seen why we all love this guy so much. It's not so often that a record comes from such a lovable source and I expect this one to set a mark as one of the strongest point in his career.

 Enjoy,
 VonStroke

Vitalic's New Single 'Stamina' released October 1st 2012

Remix package released October 29th

Techno maverick, Vitalic, released the first single taken from his new album, 'Rave Age' on October 1st via Different Recordings. Entitled 'Stamina', it features artwork by legendary artist, Storm Thorgerson and remixes from Club Cheval and Le Castle Vania. Renowned for his blistering, sought after productions, Vitalic will up the ante with an incendiary, brand new VTLZR live show starting in Europe this October all through till December. Quote from Director Saman Keshavarz: "For some tracks, I often ask myself the question "What kind of film would this be the soundtrack to?" My answer was: A demented workout video. In short, this video is about a rather over weight detective on a case where obese people seem to be having sudden heart attacks. The only evidence found next to the bodies is a black market drug marked with an upside down triangle, and a heartbeat monitor app. Forced to reckon with these deaths, and his own weight insecurities, the detective must venture further into the rabbit hole to uncover the disturbing truth about this drug and himself."

LCD Soundsystem - Shut Up and Play the Hits

A documentary chronicling LCD Soundsystem's farewell show at Madison Square Garden last April will screen at next year's Sundance Film Festival, as Pitchfork points out. Titled SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS (the caps are intentional), the film was directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, and chronicles "LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy over a crucial 48-hour period, from the day of their final gig at Madison Square Garden to the morning after, the official end of one of the best live bands in the world," according to a description on the festival's website. According to ArcadeFireTube, Arcade Fire's Win Butler inspired the title.

At the moment, it's unclear whether the documentary is the same thing as the concert film previously mentioned by Murphy. In a Facebook entry posted on October 26th, Murphy wrote: "oh--and quick thing on last show film... it's taking a long time to edit. sorry. edit is happening in london, so it's a lot of flying. takes a long time, and then it has to be graded (didn't know any of this technical stuff before), distributed, etc. taking longer than i expected, so i'm sorry. it's coming early next year."

We've reached out to the band's representation for clarification and will let you know once we hear back.

Along with the documentary, Murphy has a cameo in another film set to screen at Sundance. According to Pitchfork, Murphy will play a Brooklyn hipster in a Rick Alberson-directed film called The Comedy. The film stars Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and also features Okkervil River's Will Sheff, Richard Swift, and Gregg Turkington (aka Neil Hamburger).

joeFarr

joeFarr - ON FURTHER INSPECTION Turbo Recordings presents a stellar new EP from emerging UK producer joeFarr, the latest addition to the label's New Jack Techno stable. The gamut of Turbo releases can range from big-name big-deals to cult favorites to relative unknowns. The past year has seen the label delve more deeply into the latter category, scouting new talent and signing material entirely on the basis of the music, rather than preconception, hype or cronyism. With this release from young UK producer joeFarr, the label continues to expand its burgeoning New Jack Techno roster, which has been embraced by everyone from superstar DJs to highbrow tastemakers like Resident Advisor. The title track's moody synth intro gives way to bleeped-out party vibes, riding an insistent groove that strikes a balance between loopy mania and techno intensity. Meanwhile, "FE CR" welds clanging percussion to dark atmospherics and a relentless distorted acid line. Finally, "You Got Some Front" is an industrial-tinged banger that crosses the line into glowstick-eating rave madness. "On Further Inspection" is yet another example of the wealth of undiscovered talents out there, just waiting to be uncovered and discovered. And we will be their Father Figures, till the end of time.

One Seven Six

OUT NOW Crosstown Rebels continue to demonstrate their incredible aptitude for astute and diverse A & R by unveiling One Seven Six and their first release 'Islands In The Sky', a carefully concocted blend of organic electronica oozing with pop sensibility and two killer Brennan Green remixes!! One Seven Six aka Matt Allchin & James McCool are a writing/production duo from London that fuse boutique quantum philosophy with loose musical morals, introducing you to the deep armchair of your mind. Title track 'Islands In The Sky' displays the duos musical ability early on with a soft, electric piano melody accompanying an infectious guitar riff. Shimmering keys sweep across the mix, clearing the path for a slick disco bassline to provide the backdrop for the lush vocals of David Ashby. Prepare to be swept away to another dimension by the image-evoking wordplay. The second original track 'The Theory Of Strings' starts slightly deeper with the low end working alongside human breaths, gently building to a climax that spills over into more neat guitar work. Airy, atmospheric pads and various percussive elements grow creating a sense of drama that is relieved by an 80's electro breakdown. Once again the duos songwriting skills are the highlight, as is the way infectious vocal hooks are expertly crafted around the musical foundations. No stranger to the Crosstown camp since his remix of Luke Solomon's 'Demons' 2008, Chinatown boss Brennan Green steps up for remixes and dutifully delivers two cuts of the title track, spiced up by his sleazy breed of disco inflected, intergalactic, cosmos house. Trademark cowbells, claves and shakers on these grooving slo-mo house jams ensure they get the full NYC cosmic disco treatment. Also featured is Brennan's heads dub for darker moments.
